Make Organic Hydroponics Fertilizer

Hydroponics is the technique of growing plants without soil. Some hydroponic designs use only nutrient-enriched water. Make your own organic fertilizer for your hydroponics growing system with compost tea. Add the compost tea to your plants and watch them grow. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Create a compost pile. Add a variety of natural ingredients to the compost pile, such as egg shells, coffee grounds, manure, leaves, yard waste and fruit and vegetable peels. Allow the compost pile to rot for a few weeks. Regularly turn and water the pile to speed decomposition.

2. Fill a plastic garbage can half with compost, and the rest of the way with water. Cover the can with the lid and allow it to stand in the sun for a week or two.

3. Stir the contents of the garbage can every day to allow the mixture to breath and absorb oxygen.

4. Pour some of the tea into a spray bottle or watering can and top it off with water; use about a one-to-five ratio of tea to water. Add to your plants, as necessary.
