Clean With Borax

Using borax as a cleaning solution can keep your home deodorized, stain free and dirt free at a small price. Reach for borax the next time you want to shine china, remove stains, polish porcelain, clean refrigerators and disposals and wipe down walls. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Shine china. Fill a sink with warm water and dissolve 1/2 cup of borax into it. Wash your china in the mixture and dry it to have your china's sparkle restored.

2. Remove stains from carpets. For dry stains, mix borax and water to create a spreadable paste. Sponge the paste into the carpet, rub the stain and vacuum when the mixture dries. Treat liquid stains by mixing 1/2 cup borax with 1 1/2 cups water; pour the mixture over the stain and blot until the stain disappears.

3. Rub out stains on stainless steel, porcelain fixtures or sinks. Mix 1 cup of borax and 1/4 cup of lemon juice to make a cleaning paste. Apply the paste to the rough side of a sponge and rub the paste onto the stains. Let the paste sit for a few minutes before rinsing the surface with warm water.

4. Save moldy fabrics. Mix 1/2 cup of borax with 2 cups of hot water and let the mixture soak into a sponge. Rub the sponge over the moldy stains and let dry. If the stain remains, repeat the process until results are seen. Soaking clothing in 2 cups of borax and 2 qt. of water yields the same results.

5. Keep garbage disposals clean. Spoon 3 tbs. of borax into the garbage disposal. After one hour, turn on the disposal and run hot water down the drain.

6. Clean model airplanes and cars. Mix a few tablespoons of borax into 2 cups of warm water. Sponge the solution onto your models, wipe them down with a soft cloth and dry.

7. Deodorize and clean refrigerators by mixing 1 tbs. of borax into 3 cups of water and wiping the refrigerator's interior.

8. Wipe down dirty walls with a mixture of 2 oz. of borax and 2 qt. of water. Use a sponge or soft-bristled brush to scrub stains away. Start from the bottom of the wall and work your way up to avoid streaking your walls.
