Materials from the petrochemical industry are commonly used in skin creams. If you would like to control what goes on your skin, make your own skin cream at home. Easy Skin Cream Recipe


This recipe is deceptively simple yet results in a rich moisturizing body cream. Mix 1/2 cup Shea butter, 1/4 cup olive oil, 2 tsp. Vitamin E oil and 6 drops of essential oil of your choice with an electric mixer until well mixed and creamy. The Vitamin E oil acts as a preservative. The essential oil is for fragrance and can be left out if an unscented skin cream is preferred. Suggested essential oils would be lavender or rose geranium. Store the cream in an airtight container in a cool place.


Winter Skin Cream Recipe


Some skin creams and lotions are made up of water and oil. The trick to making them blend and stay together is to add an emulsifier to the recipe. Liquid lecithin is an excellent one that can be found at health food stores. Place 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup jojoba oil, 1 tbsp. liquid lecithin, 2 tsp. Vitamin E oil and 6 to 10 drops of essential oil of your choice into a blender. Geranium oil is good for dry skin. Blend on high until it reaches a rich, creamy consistency. Sweet almond oil or olive oil can be substituted for the jojoba oil in this recipe. Store it in an airtight container. This skin cream needs to be stored in a cool place or the refrigerator.


Eye Cream


The eye area is delicate and light oils should be used to make creams for this skin area. Try this simple recipe of 1 tbsp. light organic sesame oil, 3 tbsp. aloe vera gel and 2 drops of Vitamin E oil. Place the ingredients into a small glass jar with a lid. Screw on the top and shake vigorously until well blended. The results should be creamy. When selecting aloe vera gel, check the label to insure that the product is 100 percent aloe vera.
