Kids' Culinary Schools

There are several culinary schools with adult-and-child classes.


If you want to teach your children cook, there are several culinary schools in the U.S. to choose from. These culinary schools teach children the basics of cooking, baking and preparing meals. They also give lessons on nutrition, healthy meals, etiquette and setting the table. Classes are typically for children ages 5 and up, with after-school classes, weekend classes and adult-and-child classes available.


Young Chefs Academy


Established in 2003, Young Chefs Academy gives kids the chance to learn about menu planning, kitchen safety, food preparation and table setting. The school teaches kids to cook through classes at a variety of locations around the world, as well as special events and mini cooking camps. There are currently franchises in several states including Arizona, California, Georgia, Florida, New York and others. There are also international locations like Malaysia and Thailand. If you want to have a birthday party event, you can have up to 12 kids starting at $375 and up, as of February 2011.


Way-Cool Cooking School


The Way-Cool Cooking School in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, gives children ages 3 to 16 the chance to learn different recipes and cooking techniques with hands-on training. There are a variety of classes available for kids, adults and special classes for kids and their parents. You can also have special events the the Way-Cool Cooking School like field trips, birthday parties and summer camps. Each kids' cooking class was $45, as of February 2011, which includes specialty classes like "Simple Supper" or "Valentine's Creations."


Kids Can Cook


Located in Boston, Massachusetts, Kids Can Cook is a program tailored for middle school students to teach them the basics of cooking, meal planning and the importance of nutrition. Classes hold 10 to 12 students and take place in the afternoon as an after-school program. The types of classes vary and teach basic skills such as chopping, dicing and sauteing as well as about nutrition and the important food groups. There are also parent-and-child classes that cost $75 for each pair, as of February 2011.


Classy Kids Cook


Classy Kids Cook offers a variety of cooking classes like after-school classes, adult-and-child classes and iron chef competitions. The price for an after-school class is $45 and $65 for an adult-and-child class, as of February 2011. Children will learn basic cooking techniques, etiquette for meal planning and table setting, nutrition and healthy food choices. There are currently two Classy Kids Cook locations in the U.S., one in Washington D.C. and the other in Raleigh, North Carolina.
