Organic Wheat Grass Juice

Organic wheatgrass has a host of health benefits.

To some, eating grass or grinding up a grass product to make juice might seem absurd, but wheat grass juice has a host of health benefits. It cleanses the blood, killing bacteria and parasites as it goes along, states Amy Rost, the author of "Natural Healing Wisdom & Know How." Rost explains that many people with diseases considered incurable have gotten well with the help of wheatgrass juice. Organic wheatgrass that has not been sprayed with insecticides, herbicides and fertilizers, and grown in organic soil has numerous benefits. Does this Spark an idea?

More Energy

Modern life, with its host of demands, requires that people have a lot of energy to meet the everchanging stresses and fast pace. Wheatgrass juice helps induce better sleep, allowing you to sleep deeply and need less sleep, yet feel more energized. Ann Wigmore, author of "The Wheatgrass Book" states that once you begin a consistent wheatgrass regimen, you'll need less sleep that you did before, around six hours per night or less.

Removes Toxins

Wheatgrass juice tastes inherently sweet; the sugar helps transport the chlorophyll to your blood faster. According to Larry Cook, author of the book "The Beginner's Guide to Natural Living," the sugars "crystallize in the intestinal tract which help draw out toxins." An ounce of wheatgrass juice has 18,000 units of beta-carotene, and large amounts of vitamins K and E, not to mention numerous enzymes that help detoxify the blood. Cook states that organic wheatgrass juice is simply a "nutritional powerhouse."

Natural Antiseptic

The official website of Ann Wigmore, who many credit as the discoverer and promoter of the health benefits of wheatgrass juice, cites a 1940 issue of "The American Journal of Surgery," mentioning how Benjamin Gruskin, M.D. encourages the use of chlorophyll for its antiseptic advantages. The article proposes using chlorophyll to minimize varicose veins, treat inflammation, heal wounds, cure sinusitis and inner-ear inflammations, and a host of other health issues. Wigmore also suggests using wheatgrass enemas to strengthen the colon walls and purge them of toxins.
