Dry Roast Soy Beans

East roasted soy beans as a snack.

Soy beans are a versatile food that are easy to prepare and cook. You can use soy beans in salads to add texture, in stews or eat them as a snack. Soy beans themselves are quite bland, but you can add flavors in the form of spices, infused olive oil or sauces, if you're serving them hot. Dry roasting soy beans adds crunch to the beans, making them a satisfying alternative to nuts. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

Prepare the Beans

1. Rinse the soy beans in a colander and make sure they are clean.

2. Place the soy beans in a bowl and cover with water. Leave to soak for at least eight hours.

3. Pour the beans out over the sink, using the colander. Place the beans on a kitchen towel or tea towel to remove any excess water.

Roasting the Beans

4. Pre-heat the oven to 350 F. Cut a baking sheet out the size of your baking tray and place in the tray. If you have a large amount of soy beans, use more than one tray.

5. Pour the beans onto the baking sheet. Spread them out evenly across the tray and make sure there is only one layer, meaning no beans on top of other ones.

6. Place in the oven and bake for around 25 to 30 minutes. Check the beans after 20 minutes and keep checking every couple of minutes after that to ensure they do not burn.
