Reheat Roast Turkey

Reheating roast turkey is done in the oven or microwave.

You may view it as a boon when cooking a turkey or you may see it as just more work afterwards, but most people have leftover turkey after cooking a holiday or other meal. While sandwiches and soup come to mind, reheating the roast turkey is another option available, especially if you have other leftover side dishes, such as stuffing to go with it. You can reheat a whole turkey, in the oven, if it was originally roasted the day before the meal. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

In the Oven

1. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.

2. Place the roasted turkey in a baking dish or roasting pan. Add up to 1 cup water or broth. This amount will depend on whether you are reheating small portions of roast turkey or a full size bird.

3. Place the lid on the dish or roasting pan and bake the turkey until a meat thermometer reads 165 degrees F in the thickest part of the meat. This can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour or more depending on the size of the turkey being reheated.

Roasted Turkey in the Microwave

4. Arrange turkey slices or pieces on a microwave-safe platter or dish.

5. Cover the turkey with plastic wrap.

6. Microwave on high, rotating the plate or dish often, until the turkey is piping hot. Ensure the meat has reached 165 degrees F using a meat thermometer.
