List Of Australian Organic Wines

Australian organic wines provide connoisseurs with flavorful wines without a cocktail of chemicals.

"Organic wine is a way of avoiding the cocktail of chemicals that you don't want in your drink!" says Alan Clare, of the Vignerons Group. Not only is drinking organic wine satisfying since you are supporting a positive initiative taken on by the vineyard, but it also can have a more flavorful and delectable sensation for your palate. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Retief 2006 Gundagai Shiraz

Established by the Retief family in 1997, this vineyard was developed with the philosophy to allow the grapes' natural characters to develop with minimal intervention. This philosophy results in the wine to have variations from season to season. However, no matter the year purchased, this shiraz features blackberry and licorice highlights. The wine is certified by the Australian Certified Organic (ACO) as Biodynamic.

Rosnay Organic Wines 2007 Ros

This wine features good aromatics with cherries and plums. Since ros s are made by taking the juice of the grapes and leaving majority of the skins to make the remaining red wine more intense in color, this wine has hard tannins that are balanced by making it sweet. The Rosnay Ros is a dry wine, which is refreshing, crisp and fruity. While this wine is not very sweet, it is well-balanced. The wine is certified by the Australian Certified Organic (ACO) as Biodynamic.

Thistle Hill 2003 Basket Press Shiraz

This shiraz has a bouquet of fresh blackcurrants and spice, with soft tannins of berry, plum and chocolate. Thistle Hill ages its wine in American oak, which balances the favors and tannins of the wine, plus the vineyard does not use insecticides, weedicides, herbicides or synthetic fertilizers. This wine won a silver medal at the 2006 Mudgee Wine show and is best when consumed between 2007 and 2013. The vineyard has been classified as organic by the NASAA (National Association for Sustainable Agriculture Australia) since 1993.

Pig in the House 2004 Organic Cabernet Sauvignon

With its unique name derived from its roots of being the home to 20 free-range pigs, this wine comes from a chemical-free, sustainable environment. The cabernet sauvignon has warm aromas of berries with a rich palate of wild berry, soft tannins and a long earthy finish. It received its organic accreditation from the Biological Farmers of Australia (BFA).
