Wood Vs Nylon Cooking Utensils

Wooden utensils have been used for centuries, whereas nylon utensils are a modern invention.

A cook is only as good as his utensils in the kitchen, but with so many options available, people may find it difficult to decide if wooden or nylon utensils are better. Does this Spark an idea?

Use

You can use wooden and nylon cooking utensils for all types of cooking, since neither type has any adverse affect on food. Many cooks use nylon utensils when working with nonstick pans, because the nylon will not scratch the surface like metal or sharp wooden utensils may. Wood and nylon cooking utensils are heat-resistant.

Shape

Wooden cooking utensils vary greatly in shape, from traditional spoon shape to fork-like or triangular spoons. Most nylon cooking utensils are flatter, like pancake turners, or look like large spoons.

Care

Wooden utensils may slightly warp, or develop a "raise," from wear and moisture. Gently rub the wooden utensil with sandpaper to remove the issue, as well as any burns and stains. Discard nylon utensils that have burns or cracks; they cannot be salvaged.
