Colleges Near Jacksonville North Carolina

A number of college programs are available in or near Jacksonville, N.C.


The growing military town of Jacksonville, N.C., is home to Camp Lejeune Marine Corps Base. The city and surrounding area offer a number of colleges. Many of the schools cater to working adults and provide a variety of class schedules, including evening courses, to meet students' needs.


Coastal Carolina Community College


Coastal Carolina Community College is a popular choice for civilian and military students seeking a two-year degree, diploma, certificate or continuing education credits in Onslow County and surrounding areas. As part of the North Carolina Community College System, the college offers an array of higher education opportunities including college transfer and workforce training development. In 2010, the college received recognition as one of the most successful schools in the state community college system and had met or exceeded all 12 performance standards set by the system's board.

Mount Olive College


Mount Olive College offers several evening programs for working adults at a satellite branch located in Jacksonville. The private school may cost you more than attending a public college or university, but it offers flexible and accelerated two-year and four-year degree programs. Students can transfer college credit hours completed elsewhere. Most classes meet one night per week. Programs include criminal justice, early childhood education, health care management and management and organizational development.

University of North Carolina at Wilmington


The University of North Carolina at Wilmington is within a 45-minute drive of Jacksonville. The public university formed in 1947 with 238 students, compared to an enrollment of 13,000 in 2009. The university offers four-year degrees in more than 50 majors and is home to 35 master's degree programs. Doctorate degrees are available in marine biology and educational leadership and administration.
