Microwave Minute Rice Cooking Instructions

Cook Minute brand rice in your microwave for a fast, labor-free side dish.

Minute rice is a brand name for an instant rice. Available in white, brown and premium, this rice has been partially cooked and dried to reduce the final cooking time. The cooking instructions are the same for all brands of instant rice, not just Minute brand. Traditionally cooked on the stove top with boiling water, Minute rice also cooks in the microwave oven. Avoid disaster and use a large bowl to prevent the rice from spilling over during cooking, and do not skip the sitting time at the end, which allows the rice to absorb the water and become tender. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

Prepare Premium or White Rice

1. Combine equal parts water and rice in a large, microwavable bowl. Use ½ cup of uncooked rice per serving of 1 cup cooked rice.
