Serve Cooked Basmati Rice

Basmati rice is a flavorful long-grain rice that can be served with many dishes.


Basmati rice is a long-grain rice grown in the Himalayas and Pakistan that can be found in most supermarkets and grocery stores. It is a rice popular for its nutty flavor and fragrance. This variety of rice becomes longer and plump when cooked. Basmati rice is used in many recipes and can be served with a variety of vegetarian or meat dishes as a main course, side salads, or dessert. Just use your creativity when serving Basmati rice. Instructions


Cold Basmati Rice Salad with Nuts


1. Place the cooked Basmati rice in a large bowl.


2. Pour the chopped bellpepper, green onions, celery, parsley and walnuts over the rice.


3. Toss the rice and ingredients with the mixing spoon or large salad fork. Sprinkle the dried currants over the rice.


4. Pour the 1/3 cup olive oil vinaigrette, lemon juice and soy sauce into a small bowl and whisk them together.


5. Pour the mixture over the rice salad and toss with the spoon.


Basmati as a Side Dish and Dessert


6. Place half of the cooked Basmati rice into a bowl. Add in your favorite seasonings, herbs and fresh lemon juice, and toss the rice with a spoon.


7. Serve the rice as a side dish to your main course. Garnish it with a parsley sprig.


8. Pour half of the cooked Basmati rice in a saucepan. Pour 1 cup of water and 1 can of condensed sweet milk. Allow it to simmer on low for 30 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.


9. Sprinkle cinnamon and chopped pecans over the cooked sweet rice and stir.


10. Place the sweet rice into a bowl and allow it to cool to room temperature. Garnish with more nuts.
