Canadian Chef Schools

Professional cooking is both an art and a science.

If you want to pursue a career as a chef, you need to acquire culinary education or attend courses at a chef school. Courses in Canadian chef schools familiarize you with the ingredients and techniques of professional cooking. To excel in this field, you need to be an informed chef who is dedicated to the work.

Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts

Pacific Institute of Culinary Arts, in Vancouver, British Columbia, was founded in 1996. It offers short programs to develop your culinary skills, such as classes in wine, beer and cake decoration. Classes are limited to 15 students. The program covers culinary fundamentals such as nutrition, running a kitchen and knife handling.

Neil Baxter's Rundles Cooking Classes

These classes are held in the Rundles restaurant in Stratford, Ontario. Celebrity chef Neil Baxter presents cooking classes that help students learn experimental cooking. Weekend classes, private classes and corporate cooking lessons are offered. Classes begin with a discussion of the menu and ingredients, then break into student groups, with each group responsible for preparing one course or part of the meal.

Liaison College

Liaison College, in the Toronto suburb of Oakville, is Ontario's biggest training institute for cooks and chefs. It offers four diploma programs: culinary management, basic cooking, chef de cuisine and specialist chef. Graduates are provided with career planning assistance.

Niagara College Canada

Niagara College Canada, with campuses in Welland and Niagara-on-the-Lake, offers a two-year diploma course run by the Canadian Food and Wine Institute. It provides comprehensive training in culinary management and methods of food preparation and presentation. Courses also focus on efficient use of the modern kitchen and its appliances.
