Exterminate Roaches With Roach Powder

Use a roach powder containing boric acid to get rid of roaches in your home.

Roach powder is primarily boric acid and it enters the roach's system when it preens after walking through it or it can be absorbed through greasy areas on the roach's body. In either case, it causes dehydration and death by the powder absorbing and drying out their vital fluids. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Sweep and mop the floors, particularly along the baseboards. Sanitation is paramount to being successful with this treatment. You want the floors, including under and behind appliances, as free of food and water as possible so the roaches will be attracted to what you have for them, rather than other food sources.

2. Mark down where you have been seeing the roaches so you can focus on these areas with your treatment. Decide where you will make your placements of the powder and cut pieces of paper to fit the area.

3. Put on rubber gloves. Spread out the powder onto a piece of paper in a thin layer, then add a little sprinkle of sugar as an attractant to the powder. Carefully place the paper in an area you have chosen and mark down these spots for future reference when you want to find and remove the placements. The area should be draft free and also a dry spot -- remember that the way the powder works is by drying up the roaches, and if it gets wet it loses its ability to work. The sugar will give them a reason to transit into the powder.

4. Place the roach powder in the kitchen under the sink, stove, refrigerator, dishwasher and between cabinets if there is space. If there is not a space to lay the paper down in any of these areas, you can either blow some of the powder there from the container -- if it has the blower end -- or simply drop or fling it into the areas using your spoon. Be careful you don't cross your spoon with powder in it across any food items. In the bathroom, under the sink and lower cabinet floor board is a hot spot. The powder should always be concealed and not within reach of children or pets.

5. Refresh the powder as needed and remember to keep it dry. If wet, it is pretty much useless, since powder will also absorb humidity in the air. Once you are satisfied that all the roaches are gone, go back to your list and locate all of your placements and remove them.
