Slow Cook Beef Tenderloin

Slow cook beef tenderloin to keep the meat moist.

Beef tenderloin comes from the loin of beef, and it is typically cooked to a rare doneness to protect the flavor. Slow cooking beef tenderloin allows the meat to retain a pink or red color because the meat cooks evenly. Beef tenderloin can serve a large group and it does not require a lot of preparation. The tender beef pairs well with roasted vegetables like potatoes, carrots and mushrooms. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Preheat your oven to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Place the beef tenderloin in a baking pan on a roasting rack.

2. Remove the fat from the beef tenderloin. Remove the chain, a long piece of muscle that runs the entire length of the tenderloin, by pulling it off with your fingers. Remove any other excess fat from the meat, along with any remaining silver skin. The silver skin is a thin and tough membrane on the meat that will make it tough to chew once cooked.

3. Pour the cooking oil over the meat. Sprinkle the black pepper and salt over the cooking oil.

4. Place the beef tenderloin in the oven once it has been preheated for 20 minutes. Increase the temperature in the oven to 425 degrees.

5. Cook the beef tenderloin for 35 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 140 degrees Fahrenheit.

6. Remove the beef tenderloin from the oven. Tent a sheet of foil over the beef tenderloin and allow it to cool for 10 minutes.

7. Add fresh thyme as a garnish to the tenderloin. Serve the beef tenderloin while it remains hot.
