Make Healthy And Delicious Vegetable Juice Blends

Certain vegetables can be paired to make delicious vegetable juice blends.

Grandmothers always know best. One of the mantras heard from most grandmothers and mothers growing up is that you need to eat your vegetables. Vegetables are useful to the human body because they replenish vitamins and nutrients that the body uses and needs on a daily basis. However, not everyone likes vegetables or, due to time constraints, doesn't have time to make vegetables. Juicing vegetables is a good way to quickly get your recommended daily amount of vegetables. Choosing the right blend can make vegetable juice delicious as well as nutritious. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Choose the right juicer. Decide whether you want a centrifugal or masticating style juicer. Centrifugal juicers separate the juice and pulp by centrifugal force, while masticating juicers mash the vegetables and push them through a mesh screen. Determine how much you want to spend on a juicer -- masticating juicers are more expensive but produce more juice per use.

2. Determine which vegetables go well together and which vegetables have the nutrients you want. Pair bitter vegetables, such as leafy greens, with sweet vegetables, such as carrots. Look for vegetables that pair well in meals to use as juice blends, such as tomatoes, celery and red bell pepper.

3. Chop up the vegetables into smaller portions, using a knife and a cutting board.

4. Place a container beneath the spout prior to running the juicer. Secure the pulp collector, if there is one, into position by tilting it until it clicks into place.

5. Place the vegetables in the food chute and use the food pusher that came with the machine to push them slowly into the juicer.

6. Remove the pulp and use for compost or discard. Remove the container from under the juicer's spout. Serve juice immediately or refrigerate it.
