Prepare Tilapia In The Oven

Try preparing another white fish like cod using the same method as tilapia in the oven.

According to WebMD, tilapia is a heart-healthy protein that's also harvested in a way that's environmentally friendly. The fish cooks fast and, like chicken, is able to take on almost any flavor. You can cook tilapia on the stove, the barbecue or in the oven. Cooking the tilapia in the oven is one of the most hassle-free ways of preparing the fish because you don't have to babysit it like you would with other cooking methods. Add this to my Recipe Box.

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

2. Lay out a piece of foil. You may want to place the piece of foil inside a large plastic container and fold the sides up to form the beginning of a pocket.

3. Pour about 1 to 2 tsp. of olive oil into the foil.

4. Place your piece of fish into the foil and pour another teaspoon of olive oil onto the fish. Flip the fish around so it is evenly coated in the olive oil.

5. Use your favorite fish seasoning blend and sprinkle it onto the tilapia. Pat the blend into the fish to ensure it sticks. Use a lemon pepper blend or put a Mexican twist on the fish with some cumin, salt and pepper. Put as much or as little as you want onto the fish.

6. Wrap the fish loosely with the tin foil, forming a sealed pouch.

7. Place the pouch onto a baking sheet and place it into the oven for about 15 to 20 minutes.

8. Take the fish out of the oven after the allotted time and be careful when opening the foil pouch. Steam will come out of the pouch quickly. If the fish is opaque and flakes easily, it is ready to eat.
