Store Baked Chicken

Storing cooked chicken properly is important for value and safety.

Following correct food storage procedures can prevent food-borne pathogens from causing illness. Chicken that has been cooked requires proper storage, just as uncooked chicken does, especially because spices and seasonings used in cooking may make it difficult to tell whether the meat has gone bad.

Instructions

1. Cook a whole chicken thoroughly to 180 degrees Fahrenheit measured at the thigh with a meat thermometer.

2. Let the chicken cool at room temperature for no more than two hours.

3. Place the chicken in a clean, sealed container or a bowl covered in cling film, ensuring a tight seal.

4. Place the container at the back of the fridge to ensure it stays at a constant temperature. The refrigerator should be set lower than 40 degrees Fahrenheit during storage. Cooked chicken can be frozen for four months in a freezer bag or container. Write the date that it was frozen on it.
