Insure Your Pet Dog Or Cat

Protect your pet with insurance.

Pet insurance is no longer just available to cover veterinary expenses. Insurance companies have realized that many pet owners want to protect their pets if they become ill. As a result, there are now several options for getting your dog, cat or exotic pet insured for various life events. Having pet insurance can help you afford care for that pet throughout its life.

Instructions

1. Get pet health insurance. There are several companies offering insurance for dogs and cats to cover veterinary expenses. Some pet insurance companies even cover more exotic pets such as birds and lizards.

2. Add pet life insurance to your pet health insurance policy. Some pet insurance companies offer this as an add-on to the standard veterinary pet insurance. Pet life insurance helps with end of life expenses such as euthanasia, burial and/or cremation of your pet. Some might also cover counseling and bereavement services to handle the loss of a beloved pet.

3. Get pet injury insurance coverage through your car insurance company. With pet injury coverage, the car insurance pays for veterinary expenses related to an accident if the pet was injured in the accident. Contact your insurance agent to determine if your company offers pet injury coverage.
