Recipe For Borax Use In Mold Removal

Make your own mildew remover using borax.

Borax is an effective, nontoxic, low-fume and natural product used in many homemade household cleaners, including ones that kill mold on nonporous surfaces such as showers, sinks and tubs. After adding the ingredients from one of several recipes into a 1 quart spray bottle, shake it until the ingredients blend together. Then, spray the mold with the borax solution and let it soak for 10 to 15 before wiping it away with a rag. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

1. Mix equal parts of white vinegar, water and borax. This is an easy, but effective mold-removing recipe.

2. Mix 1 teaspoon of borax, 3 cups of warm to hot water, 1/2 cup of white vinegar, 1 teaspoon of tea tree oil and 1/4 cup of liquid or grated castile soap, recommends the University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture. This recipe also includes other natural mold-removing ingredients such as essential oils.

3. Add 1/4 cup of borax to the bottle and then fill it with warm water. This solution also helps prevent mold from growing in showers and baths.
