Which Teas Darken Gray Hair

Hair sometimes needs a break from chemical colors.

Most people would prefer to retain their natural hair color as they age. Gray hair concerns people enough to warrant dying hair. Unfortunately, store-purchased dyes contain synthetic chemicals that frequently lead to more harm than good. Hair occasionally requires a break from such chemicals, and during these times, a tea extract is the ideal solution to achieve or retain the natural color. Does this Spark an idea?

Sage and Rosemary Tea

The combination of sage and rosemary herbs is a powerful natural treatment to darken gray hair. Mix 1/4 cup of sage with the same amount of rosemary and soak the two herbs in boiling water for 10 minutes. Strain the liquid and apply to your hair with a brush. Rinse your hair after 30 minutes.

Chamomile Tea

Chamomile tea will darken gray hair. Pour boiling water over the chamomile herb, and leave it to soak for 20 to 30 minutes. Strain the tea and use a brush to soak the chamomile liquid. Apply the liquid to your hair and rinse it out after a half hour.

Walnut Tea

Boil the outer hulls of black walnuts for 15 to 20 minutes, and after it has cooled, apply the extract with a brush. Wear gloves during the process, as this extract stains. Rinse your hair after 30 minutes.

Sage Tea

Sage tea has through the years proved its worth and ability to darken gray hair. Add a generous handful of fresh or dried sage to a container and pour half a pint of boiling water onto the herb. Allow the sage to seep into the water and the tea to cool sufficiently. Soak up the liquid with a brush and apply the extract to your hair. Rinse your hair after 30 minutes. Sage tea can also be mixed at a ratio of 1-to-1 with store-purchased hair conditioner. In this application, leave the sage in your hair only as long as the conditioner is in your hair. Apply sage tea on a daily basis for at least a month. Thereafter, follow with a twice weekly maintenance treatment.
