Sullivan County Community College


Sullivan County Community College offers a Culinary Arts program that lasts a total of four semesters. Students in the program take courses in hospitality, nutrition, business management and sanitation. Campus housing is available; the cost of tuition depends on whether or not a student opts to live on campus and if he is a New York resident. As of 2010, the price of tuition ranges from $9,350 for a New York resident living off campus to $18,750 for an out-of-state student. Graduates of the program receive an Associate of Occupational Studies degree.

The French Culinary Institute


The French Culinary Institute, in New York City, offers four programs of study: Amateur Studies, Classic Pastry Arts, Advanced Studies and Classic Culinary Arts. Students have the option of enrolling in day or evening classes at the institute. Tuition varies by program but can cost over $40,000 for course completion; tuition fees include uniform, supplies and books. Graduates receive a diploma and qualify for career placement assistance. Federal financial aid is available for eligible students in addition to scholarships.

The Institute of Culinary Education


Also located in New York City, The Institute of Culinary Education offers instruction in cooking methods and international cuisine. The culinary arts program is 650 hours in length. After graduating the program, students are awarded a diploma. The Institute of Culinary Education's tuition is less than $30,000 for the entire program.

The Culinary Institute of America


The Culinary Institute of America, in Hyde Park, has an international team of instructors, and offers a bachelor or associate degree. Coursework includes food ecology, menu development and restaurant law. Program tuition ranges from $12,990 to $15,405 per semester. Prospective students can apply online at the institute's website or obtain an application from the school for submission by mail.
